Mike Balkin Interviewed on CNBC’s “Closing Bell”

September 3, 2014

Mike Balkin, partner and co-portfolio manager of the William Blair Small Cap Growth Fund,  discusses his views of small cap stock performance in an anticipated rising interest rate environment on CNBC’s "Closing Bell” with anchor Bill Griffeth. “Historically, when we see interest rates edge up, we see some growth in the economy, which is when small cap stocks tend to do well,” Balkin said. While small cap stocks have lagged recently, Balkin said that small caps have performed well over the last four years, and he believes will continue to do so heading into the end of the year after mid-term elections.
